Kadylack Farm - Sunflower Walk
Steve Terpstra and Dianne DeJong have opened up their beautiful fields to the public to experience the ambiance and peacefulness of nature! For two weeks, they brighten your day with a walk thru their sunflower fields with proceeds going toward training of mental health first aid, supporting families, children and youth in Huron-Perth.
The Chamber received multiple nominations for this business during the Business Excellence nomination period. Many noted this amazing experience.
Entrance tickets are priced at $10 per person or $40 per carload, with children five and under and dogs enjoying free admission.
The event goes beyond just a delightful day out; it also serves as a charitable initiative supporting various deserving causes. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be contributed to several organizations, including CMHA- HP, Wellspring, Concussion Support, and Atwood Kids Games, among others.
The venue, Kadylack Farm at 5572 Perth Line 72 in Atwood, offers wheelchair accessibility and ample free parking for the convenience of visitors.
2024 Community Impact Award
Silver Sponsor, County of Perth Deputy Warden Doug Kellum and Justin Dias, Perth County’s Economic Development Officer made the presentation to Dianne and Steve
In 2022, while other sunflower farms were closing off access, this farm opened its fields to the community with a Sunflower Walk, promoting mental well-being and raising funds for local mental health initiatives.
Over the past three summers, the walk has raised $75,000 for organizations like CMHA, Huron Perth Centre, and the Tanner Steffler Foundation.
The event features a scenic 3.2 km walk with inspirational messages, a corn maze, and even red phone booths where guests can leave positive notes.
The farm welcomes everyone, including those unable to pay, making the walk wheelchair accessible and inclusive for families, seniors, and community groups.
The Sunflower Walk has grown into a beloved annual event, recognized as one of Perth County's top family adventures.
