Chamber Launches Winter Campaign to Boost Local Spending in Shop Local Dollars
Listowel, ON – The North Perth Chamber of Commerce is calling on residents and employees across the region to help inject $50,000 in Shop Local Dollars back into the local economy this winter. With over $80,000 currently in circulation, now is the time to pull those dollars from wallets, desks, and drawers and put them to good use supporting local businesses. Our goal is to encourage $50,000 to be received by merchants by the end of February.
The Shop Local Dollar program is designed to keep money within our community, benefiting not just retailers and restaurants, but also service professionals who accept these dollars as payment. If a business does not have a “Shop Local Dollars Accepted Here” sign displayed, residents are encouraged to simply ask if they accept them—many do!
“We know January and February can be challenging months for local businesses, and this is a great way to show your love for Listowel,” says Chamber Manager, Sharon DArcey. “By spending your Shop Local Dollars, you are directly supporting the businesses that make our community thrive.”
The Chamber urges everyone who has received Shop Local Dollars as a gift, employee incentive, or community reward to spend them this winter. Not only will this help strengthen local businesses, but it will also encourage continued participation in this important program.
Local businesses interested in accepting Shop Local Dollars or promoting their participation can contact the Chamber for materials and support. A list of participating merchants can be found online: npchamber.com/shop-local-dollars
